In case you didn't know, bulldogs are not known as big barkers. It may be because they tend to be a bit lazy and with their short noses. barking is uncomfortable. I don't really think this is why. It may be because they don't really care about their 'families' and so they don't feel threatened enough to bark at anyone. This isn't why either, since bulldogs are one of the best breeds to have if you want to protect your family, and have a dog that is really loyal and caring. I like to think that bulldogs aren't big barkers because they bark when they have something to say, and when they do, they will get your attention. In a nutshell, Bulldogs Bark with Purpose.
As a contrast, my neighbor has two dogs, a big German Shepard type dog, and a small Miniature Yorkshire Terrier. When they come out to play, the little dog barks non-stop at the big dog. Non -stop to the point that I am very happy when they leave the area. Now I am not sure what exactly the dog is saying, but I will say this...Whatever it is saying, nobody is listening, because it keeps repeating itself. Maybe the dog needs to change the way it is communicating, otherwise, it may wear out it's tiny little vocal chords.
There are a few things to keep in mind. If you are Barking, make sure someone is truly listening to your message, and then stop, look and listen before responding. Not only will you become a great communicator, but you will find you end up spending less energy trying to be heard, and more time being understood.
Woof.
