Have you ever considered HOW you need to be feeling when you write a blog post? I know it seems kind of strange, but the reality of it is, the state that you are in when you are writing will have something to do with the effectiveness and reach of your post.
Did you ever receive something hand made from someone and they put one of those labels in it that said something like, " Made with love from Grandma?" Can you imagine if the label said something like,"Made with stress and resentment because Grandma overcommitted herself to doing this?" Not only would it be too big of a label, but I don't think you would feel real good wearing the hand knitted scarf after reading that. But the energy that goes into the work that you do will resonate with the end users and recipients of your work.
So what is a blogger to do?
The main thing that I do before I sit down and write anything for my blog, or do anything for that matter, is get in touch with Who is my audience, and How I want them to be feeling after reading my post. Sometimes I will think of a particular client and write with them in mind. Then what I do is get myself in the emotional state that I want them to be in after reading a post, and then I write from that energy. I know it sounds a bit woo-woo, and out there, but I do know that it works. When I am excited about something, more people read my blog. If I am just kind of going through the motions, not as many people read and comment.
I encourage you to try this when you work on anything, and see how it affects your results, and Hey, even if it really isn't true, at least you can have a good time when you are working!

Spot on Kirsten! The bit about "Grandma's Label" made me laugh out loud, so you were obviously having fun whilst typing this one... ;)
I find that it's only as I re-read my posts a while after I wrote them that I fully appreciate the truth of what you've shared here. I then find myself immediately back in that state again, and if it works for me I hope it works for my readers! One of my favourite definitions of leadership is "the transference of emotion". So if we want to lead people in a particular (positive) direction, it makes sense to make a conscious effort to choose the emotion we end up transferring!

Great point Kirsten. I've noticed that I get more feedback on posts that sort of sprung out of me, that were inspired, as opposed to the posts that were more forced. It hadn't really occurred to me to consciously set myself up in the optimal state of mind, only to take advantage when it happens. I'm going to do that before blogging this week.
P.S. I've been doing some organizing and decluttering around here this last week and got rid of some gifts that I swear should have had a tag like you described! Phew, it feels better around here.
